Thursday 23rd of July 2009 | Posted by Dave Taylor July 2009 UpdateWhat a last few months it’s been! After finding out in early May that I had been given the green light to start making plans for Sovereign Grace Ministries Australia, there’s a lot that has taken place. Here are some of the highlights for you by way of an update; I hope you find this encouraging. How kind the Lord has been to us…
1. CONTACTS AND ENCOURAGEMENTSBy far and away the most encouraging thing that has happened over this past few weeks, is the sheer amount of folk that have been contacting me with regard to plans for Sovereign Grace Church, Sydney. I have received so many emails from men and women who just wanted to let us know of not only their interest in all that is taking place, but also their encouragement and commitment to be praying for us.
God really does seem to be giving us great favour in this city, and as word has started to get out about our commitment to come, it has been so good to have these gracious and positive responses.
If yours was one of these, then thank you again so much, so appreciate it!
2. WEBSITEThe website is now well and truly underway. It is being designed and built by my good friends Dan Clemo and Mike Parker (the guys who also did www.christchurchnet.org). Just this past Thursday Pete Greasley and I did some filming for the home page videos. The day went really well, albeit that I think we have way more bloopers than actual useable video methinks!
Well on schedule for the launch of this website though, the hope being that
www.sovgraceoz.org will be up and running by 1st August, 09.
3. OCTOBER TRIPWe’ve now got our tickets all booked for this. My wife and I will be arriving on Saturday 24th October, and then leaving on Monday 2nd November. Pete Greasley will also be coming out, but for a shorter period towards the end of our visit.
My initial plans for this trip are that some of the time will be spent introducing my beautiful lady to Sydney (I still can’t believe she has the faith to follow me even though she’s never been – couldn’t be anymore grateful to God for my wife, God has been so good too me)! As well as that, we will be looking to spend time with folk in Sydney that are going to be involved in the church planting team, as well as put on one or two public meetings that will be open to anyone who is keen to hear more about Sovereign Grace Ministries, Australia.
So looking forward to this time… further details to follow.
4. PRAISE GOD FOR PRAYERNot a week goes by without folk either stopping me or emailing me to let me know that they have been praying for us as a family, and for all the plans for Sovereign Grace Ministries, Australia. This is always so very encouraging and kind, simply can’t thank God enough for folk that uphold us in prayer in this way.
Just this past month we even had a whole church praying for us… Grace Church, Bristol -
view their blog post.
Thank you so much my friends.
5. MIKE & SARAH PASALICH PREPARE TO LEAVE UK
It was three years ago now that Mike’s ‘walkabout’ story began. Having pursued Sovereign Grace Ministries for some time he took up an internship at Grace Community Church, Ashburn in 2006. Mike then attended the Sovereign Grace Pastors College in 2007, before taking an internship with us here at Christchurch, UK, in 2008.
Mike’s keen desire in the last three years has been to do all he can to see a Sovereign Grace Church planted in his beloved Australia. Well Mike, you’ve won! It has been an absolute delight to see how God has worked in and through Mike over this season. To be honest, I couldn’t respect him any more than I do as I consider his humble walk over this past three years. Mike has modelled what it is to be gospel-centered and therefore more passionate about what you’re ‘a part of’ than ‘the part you play’, and I am just so grateful to God for this man.
Please pray for Mike and Sarah as they come out to Sydney next week. That the God of all grace would provide them with good employment and a home, as well as grace upon grace in all that they do. So looking forward to doing life in Oz with you my friend!
So there you go folks, it’s going good! Please continue to pray for all that is taking place and thank you so much for your ongoing support. Although it is early days there is already so much to give thanks to God for, and so would all glory in all that you see and read here, go to Him!
In His Abounding Grace,
Dave Taylor
